Here are some of the benefits you will receive when you take one of my classes.

First and foremost you will only be working on the areas you need to achieve your goals. Having taught guitar for many years, I know how easy it is to get stuck practicing things that you aren’t quite ready for. It is human nature to try to jump right to the end. We would all like to get results as fast as possible. Learning the guitar is just like building a house. You need a strong foundation. There are techniques and ideas that you have to know before you can move in to more advanced areas. Once you get stuck trying to do something you aren’t ready for, it’s very easy to just throw in the towel.

By the same token, if all you do is boring exercises that don’t seem like they have anything to do with your favorite songs or guitar players, you won’t be having any FUN! And if you aren’t having any fun, you will probably quit.

So in my experience, the most important job of a guitar instructor is to guide you in the right direction to achieve your goals while making sure that you are truly enjoying the experience of learning music. We set your own goals right away. Every class is a little different. Although there is a set lesson plan, I have designed it to be very flexible to take in to account each student’s goals and tastes. Playing songs is an important part of the classes and we start them on day one! We also work on the weeks assignment at the end of each class. This is to make sure you know how to work on the assignments when you get home. If you do need help, you can ask me questions and view all of the lesson material in the online student portal. I also find that learning gets a lot more fun when you get rewarded. We set milestones for each student and I really love to celebrate these achievements. And finally, nothing feels better to a student than working hard on something they love, and being able to perform that in front of friends and family. I like to hold periodic studio performances (recitals) for all of the students to show off their stuff!

Problems solved

Learning the guitar can present you with many unexpected problems. They can be frustrating, but with a little guidance you can overcome them quickly. I understand what it is like to go through this. I can help you along with theses and other problems you may experience while learning the guitar:

  • Sore fingers
  • Problems changing from chord to chord.
  • Holding down barre chords so they sound right
  • Learning good strumming and rhythm techniques
  • Getting away from bad practicing habits and get on track to practicing with results
  • Fixing bad habits on the guitar
  • Skipping from string to string
  • Finding time to practice effectively

Why take my guitar classes?

I am a qualified guitar instructor who has the benefit of a formal education, but I didn’t start that way. At first I learned everything that I could on my own. I just wanted to have fun learning and playing the guitar. To this day, that is the reason i continue to play and teach the guitar (it is supposed to be FUN). I try to teach with as much fun as possible while guiding you in the right direction. My number one goal is to have you get better and enjoy being a musician just as much as I do.

The classes are held at 44 E Johnston St, in downtown Forsyth GA. This is a very convenient location for all of Monroe County, and a short drive from Macon/Bibb county.
