Would you like to master guitar technique and music theory?
Would you like to improvise effortlessly?
Do you want to know complex scales and chords inside and out?
Would you like a mentor rather than a teacher?
If any of these questions sound familiar, my ADVANCED classes are for you!
So you are in it for the long haul. Guitar has become a big part of your life, and you wouldn’t have it any other way. You have probably already learned the biggest lesson on guitar: “The more you learn the more you realize how little you know” . That is a quote from Socrates by the way ( I wonder if he played guitar?).
I think that once you get established as a guitar player, it gets very challenging to progress without losing what makes you special on the guitar. Some good feedback from others at this stage in your playing is invaluable. Advanced classes are a wonderful tool to point you in the right direction and make you the player that you always wanted to be. Not only do you have the guidance and feedback from an instructor who has been in your shoes before, but you have other guitarists, who are going through the same challenges as you, to bounce ideas off of.
The specific exercises in the course include:
- Mastery of the fretboard.
- Mastery of scales/modes.
- Mastery of advanced chord extensions and arpeggios.
- Music theory and ear training.
- Advanced technique exercises
- Improvisation and songwriting.
- Advanced tone shaping.
I offer once a week, hour long, group guitar classes in downtown Forsyth GA! For me to be a successful teacher, I need to help YOU ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS and teach you how to PLAY WITH OTHERS. My lesson plans are designed to do just that. I make each exercise fun but focused on giving you the tools you need to achieve your goals. All of the lessons build upon the next, making sure that you are only learning what you need, and not wasting time with exercises that wont help you in the long run.
These are not “fly by the seat of your pants” guitar lessons, where the teacher makes it up as he/she goes along. I follow a distinct lesson plan. On day one, we establish goals and milestones for all members of the class. Each students progress is recorded, and notes from each lesson will be sent by email. All of the teaching materials for the week are available in the student portal. The goals of the students are incorporated into the lesson plan, so each class is unique to the group.
Speaking of “the group”, I’ve come to my favorite part. Because these are small group classes, there are several benefits that you just can’t get with traditional one on one guitar lessons. Fear of performing in front of others is extremely common. I just don’t remember any of my teachers even talking about this problem, much less trying to do anything about it. My classes deal with this from day one, in a fun and relaxed manner. The exercises are designed to help you learn the guitar, but also learn how to play with and for others. Sharing the experience of learning music with others is highly beneficial, and also offers encouragement, support and accountability. They are also very affordable. The price per-lesson works out to less than half the price of my individual lesson rate.
